"Me Time" Cognitive Meditation & Imagery Therapy CD review & giveaway

GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED!
CONGRATULATIONS TO #11BARBARA!

Suzanne Jessee earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Eastern Michigan University. She was trained and certified by renowned instructor, Dr. Anna Spencer, from the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association. Suzanne has been teaching stress management techniques and meditation therapies at hospitals and residential treatment facilities in Michigan for several years.

Suzanne is intimately familiar with the pains of depression, panic disorder and addiction. As a commitment to her own recovery - and quest for abundant living - her life's mission has since been dedicated to the study and recovery of mental illness and addiction disorders.

Stemming from her experiential and educational journey into recovery, Suzanne has developed a comprehensive, effective and enjoyable library, using her multi-disciplinary therapeutic programs.

"Me Time: Positive Day - Peaceful Night" is her latest CD in "audio cognitive meditatition therapy". The CD consists of three programs, Day, Night, and what I call Anytime. Day and Night are approximately 15 minutes in length and Anytime is approximately 30 minutes. These are just the right lengths to get the fullest benefit from the program.

The Morning Time Cognitive Meditation and Imagery session is designed to help you start your day with a positive attitude about yourself and your life. It will lift your mind, body and spirit to greet your day with energy and optimism.

The Night Time Cognitive Meditation and Imagery session will guide you step by step into a physical and mental deeply relaxed state of being. Night Time will help you to awaken feeling more rested than ever before and with more energy to meet the opportunities of your day.

The Anytime session is a blend of beautiful sounds to help control stress or anxiety any time you need it. Angelic music and peaceful running water help set a relaxing mood that could be beneficial in a multitude of ways, from a bad day at the office to fitful children to anxiety over an upcoming test or job interview.

I have long been a proponent of imagery therapy and believe that the mind is the link to the body and spirit. Listening to this CD without any preconceptions or unnecessary scepticism is the best way to get the full benefit. You don't have to be a "believer" - you just have to be open to whatever results you get.

I don't have a CD player that I can easily put in my bedroom to try this CD, but I do have an iPod Shuffle and I was able to record the Day and Night programs onto it and listen as I fell asleep and awoke in the morning.

The nighttime session I found to be very helpful when the thoughts and worries of the day just wouldn't leave me alone. After a few minutes, I was able to relax and eventually drift into a peaceful sleep.

The morning session was also very gentle and set the tone for dealing with the pressures of the day. Personally, I found that the morning session didn't do enough to energize me to get out of bed. It too was very restful. Maybe it's just Suzanne's gentle tone of voice, not strident, not demanding, merely suggestive. But I think I need a little more to get me going for the day, since I tend to feel like a slug in the mornings and it's very hard for me to crawl out of bed. Her morning session just made me want to stay there. :)

But to be honest, I've only tried this a few times. It might work better for me after several more listenings. What can it hurt?

All I'm saying is that your results may vary from mine. If you awaken feeling anxious already about whatever you have to do that day, then this might help you a lot. For me, I need something more energizing. I'm seriously thinking of getting one of those "sunshine" lamps that gradually lightens your bedroom, because with my dark paneling and one window, my bedroom is like a cave. I need sunshine and birds chirping to get me out of bed.

But again, that's just me. I did feel that the night session worked quite well for relaxation. So if you suffer from insomnia or nighttime sleep disorder, this might very well help you. And I like the Anytime session just to calm myself whenever I need it.

CAUTION: Do not listen to these audio sessions while operating a vehicle. Use common sense.

I want to win this and give to my mother in law (not online). She recently lost her job and suffered emotionally from the stress of that job. She often can't sleep at night and is usually awake by 3am for the day. I think this would really help her a lot.

It seems every night when I try to sleep I end up trying to go over everything that happened that day in my mind. And then I start stressing about the next day .... I think it would be helpful to take the time to destress. I've tried on my own, but am not always getting as relaxed as I need to go to sleep
