Protect your heirloom dining table with a dining table pad

My grandmother had furniture sets (suites is the word they used to use) that would make any antique lover drool. There was a four-poster bed, very heavy, carved with old-fashioned pineapples. with a matching dresser and chiffarobe. She also had a matching dining room set (suite): buffet, hutch, and dining table with eight chairs. All simply magnificent.

And all coveted by her granddaughters. :)

When my grandmother passed away about twenty-five years ago, I was the lucky recipient of the dining table and chairs.

But protecting that heirloom is touch and go. I've always loved the look of the wood top, polished to perfection and reflecting back whatever centerpiece I put in the middle. But for meals, I use a tablecloth. Sometimes two. And that still doesn't protect the table against heat, liquid rings, stains, etc.

There's an online store that sells custom dining table pads. No more worrying about damage to that heirloom piece of furniture.
This isn't my dining room table, but it's close in size. Dining Table Pad Covers can help you protect your heirlooms, too. Check out GoTablePads.com for more information.

Immunet - for online social community protection

How many people do you interact with socially online every day? A few? A lot?

For most of us, the answer is probably a lot.

Did you know there is a new security product available that helps protect not just your computer, but potentially your entire network of online contacts?

Immunet Protect is available in a free version and a paid version. The free version is definitely something you might want to look into, but the paid version (Immunet Protect Plus) allows extra functions such as scheduling scans and is a bargain at $19.95 per year.

The concept of Immunet Protect is simple: Instead of installing and running a malware program locally on your computer, and having to get regular and timely updates to ensure your computer protection, Immunet is "cloud-based", which simply means it runs on the Internet itself, not locally from your personal computer.

What does this mean to you? It means faster protection, for one thing. Faster updates, for another. And if the members of your social circle also have Immunet installed on their computers, if one of your circle is attacked by malware or a virus, the rest are instantly protected in real time.

I don't know about you, but this really gives me better peace of mind. So many "new" folks are coming online every day, even grandparents who have never used a computer before now know how to send and receive emails, photos, etc. But being "new" to the online world, they are just not experienced enough to know that certain websites or links or emails are highly suspect, and before you know it their computers have been infected. And those infections get spread to others in their network without their knowledge.

Immunet helps guard against this by being constantly vigilant. When malware is detected on one computer in your network of online acquaintances, every other computer in that network is put on, shall we say, "high alert". Instant protection in real time.

Malware and virus authors are forever coming up with new ways to abuse and destroy the very things that most of us enjoy and take for granted. I've never understood why they do this and I guess I never will. But they are definitely up to no good, and the only way to protect yourself is by installing personal computer protection software.

Or by staying off the Internet completely.

I'm not ready to drop the Internet completely because some malicious folks out there have nothing better to do with their time than cause me trouble. So I protect my computer with both anti-virus software and anti-malware software.

The good thing about Immunet is that it works seamlessly alongside whatever anti-virus software you now have installed. There's a list of compatible software on their website. So you don't have to uninstall anything, or put your entire safety in the hands of Immunet...at least until you feel confident that Immunet is meeting your needs.

Since Immunet Protect comes as a free download, you have no reason not to at least give it a try. It takes very little time to download and install. And the footprint on your computer is minimal, since it really runs online through your Internet connection. Get the trial download here.

You can also win some prizes by trying Immunet! From now through February 28, 2011, during installation of Immunet Protect Free, there is a prompt to Share via Facebook. Anyone who wants to enter the contest should select this option and add their name at the beginning of the pre-populated text in the dialog window. All participants' names will be entered automatically into the contest to win Immunet Protect Plus, a $19.95 value, for themselves and up to 50 members of their personal online community, plus a $100 cash award. The winner will be selected by a random drawing on March 2, 2011.

And it's FREE! What do you have to lose?

Immunet Protect Plus provides everything that Immunet Protect Free provides, plus a host of advanced antivirus capabilities, including enhanced virus removal, the ability to schedule virus scans, offline scanning that protects PCs even when they're disconnected from the Internet, and more.

Scout leaders, teachers, parents, sports teams, classmates, committee members, families, co-workers, friends, and more, all can be part of your Immunet Protect network simply by installing the free version of Immunet. Then everyone with Immunet installed is protected in real time. That can be critical in protecting your computer against the multitude of new virus, trojan, worm, and malware invasions popping up daily.
{Disclosure: I received a free download of Immunet Protect Plus in order to facilitate my review. No monetary consideration was involved.}

Pure Romance {giveaway}

Valentine's Day can be really depressing for single people who aren't in a relationship. All those beautiful flowers, the boxes of candy, the balloons, the jewelry, the romantic dinners for two, the intimate playfulness of being completely comfortable with the one you love...

I'm not in a relationship at the moment. Heck, I may never be in a relationship again. I rather like living alone. I could list all the good things about living alone, but that's not necessary. Those of you who are single already know them.

Those in a relationship look at us with pity. They think there's no way we can be happy unless we have a significant other in our lives. How wrong they are!

But...confession time.

One thing I do miss about being in a relationship is intimacy. Not just sex. I'm talking about cuddling. Sharing the crossword puzzle. Bringing - or being brought - a cup of coffee without asking or being asked to. Cuddling. Talking about dreams, about what we want out of life, out of each other. Knowing every mole and every birth mark on the body of your loved one. Cuddling.

Did I mention cuddling?

Yeah, I guess I miss cuddling most of all.

Sometimes I miss the sex, I'll be honest. But it isn't just the act that I miss, it's the...you guessed it...cuddling. It's hard to cuddle yourself.

But I do a fair job of it. I love sensual things around me, especially velvet and fur and silk. I love the feeling of snuggling under a warm down comforter in the winter, even if there's no warm body next to me. I love amaretto-flavored coffee. I love perfume, well, just about any kind of scent really, especially candles.

You see I know how to like me. Of course it has more meaning when someone else does it, but I'm not lacking for anything by not being in a relationship.

Except cuddling.

I've also learned that I can replace sex with toys. Does that shock you? It shouldn't. It's normal. We're all human. We all have needs. Some more than others. Some not so much. But we all have needs. And those needs have to be met somehow, someway.

Best to do it safely in the privacy and comfort of your own home. So...toys.

I got a Valentine's Day gift today! Not from a significant other. Not even from a secret admirer. The box came from Pure Romance, chock full of goodies for me to try out and review on this blog. Oh, and I've got a giveaway too, so keep reading!

What an intriguing box! Wanna see what's inside? Of course you do!

Wow!! Look at all the goodies! My camera messed up pictures of the two items on the right: Dust Me Pink edible body powder in barely berry and Come Clean adult toy cleaner

And I love the name of this set of products: Mini Nights of Passion - A Little Pure Romance. A Lot of Pleasure!
This is what was inside: island breeze bubble bath, seductive sage sensual massage oil, strawberry-flavored arousal cream, strawberry warming lubricant, and original liquid lubricant
Just Like Me gel lubricant and strawberry-flavored arousal cream
Can you guess what a product called "Coochy" might be used for? Hint: it's a rash-free scented shave cream in five scents - original, pear berry, green tea, grapefruit, and pomegranate
Wondering what was in the black satin bag? Wonder no more! Voila - a 7th Heaven bullet!

I realize that products like these may not be for everyone. And that's okay. Each of us has to find our own comfort level. Some are a bit more adventurous than others. Some find products like this too racy, others find them rather tame. To each his/her own.

But if these products sound like something you'd have fun experimenting with, either with or without a significant other, then enter my giveaway!

A Better World game app on Facebook

Back in November I told you about a new Facebook app from ToonUps called "A Better World". I can hear you groaning now...yeah, I know, not another Facebook app! Don't we have enough Farmville, Mafia Wars, and trivia games?

A Better World is...well...worlds apart from other Facebook apps. It's a game, yes, but more than that it's an interactive plaything that focuses not on fighting or accumulating riches, but rather on good stuff. Positive stuff.

I told you it was different. :)

It has the usual components: for instance you can customize your avatar (the "person" onscreen that represents you or your character) and there's a new salon in town where you can update your look whenever you like. Or whenever you have the "gold" to do so.
Oh dear, I said this game wasn't about accumulating riches, didn't I? Well, it's not. Not really. The "gold" is your reward as it were for doing good deeds in the universe of A Better World. Gold can be spent on a variety of things like the salon to update your avatar's look (new haircut, anyone?) or furnishings for your make-believe house in the game.

Yep, you have your very own house that you can furnish and decorate as you like. As you progress, new items and features become available. But again, this isn't about accumulating riches. There are plenty - and I mean plenty - of opportunities to earn gold, simply by doing a few of the things in the game - which are all positive and uplifting.

Take for instance the Gratitude Grotto, which you reach by going to the countryside. At the Gratitude Grotto, you can see what others are grateful for and even vote yes/no on how well those thoughts express real gratitude in the spirit of the game. Every time you vote you earn "do good gold". At the Gratitude Grotto you can also add your own grateful thoughts and others will vote on them, also adding to your gold supply.

Back in the village, you can visit your neighbors and even leave them surprise gifts. I see that my virtual neighbor in A Better World still has her Christmas tree up. :)
In town, you can go to Town Hall for information on all the areas and things to do in A Better World. Think of it as a visitors center. :) I see that there is something new to do in A Better World!
Since Valentine's Day is just a few days away, I can send a "heart" from the Heart Cart to my Facebook friends. The nice thing about this is that hearts you've received will always be there unless you delete them. So you can enjoy your hearts and the warm fuzzies anytime you like.
And you earn do good gold every time you perform any of these thoughtful, positive actions. Want a different way to wish your friends on Facebook a great day? Go to the Positive Post, which acts like a post office, and you can send messages to any of your Facebook friends. Again, you earn gold for doing good deeds.
How refreshing it is to find a Facebook app that actually rewards you for doing good deeds! A Better World is truly different from most apps, and I think you'll agree that it can surely brighten not just someone else's day, but yours as well! Give it a try!

And send me a heart if you like. Since I'm single and not in a relationship at the moment, it may be the only Valentine I get this year. :)

Disclosure: I will be receiving an Amazon gift card from ToonUps as a thank you for participating in this campaign.
